| 12 June 2008 OPTIMUM International has launched an electronic mounting bracket for LCD and plasma screens. Called Lava, the motorised bracket is operated by an infra-red remote control and boasts a “virtually silent” mechanism that allows the screen to be swivelled through an angle of 90 degrees at the touch of a button. It can hold screens ranging from 26 to 50in and the maximum load is 50kg for wall-mounted brackets and 13kg when mounted on the ceiling. The company recommends that it is installed by a specialist AV engineer. Managing director, John Ogden, commented on the range: “The Lava wall mount is a real first for Optimum. We felt the bracket market was becoming saturated with traditional fixed or tilting mounts and we wanted to offer dealers a more innovative and profitable product at the higher end of the market.” Finished in a colour described as ‘pearl grey’, Lava should retail for around £399.
